So I did a thing….I officially walked across the stage to receive the first of many degrees. For a long time I didn’t want walk in commencement because I didn’t feel like I was deserving, should, or even understood the whole point. After much convincing thanks to the wonderful people in my life I realized this was more than just about me getting this degree, the reality of this is so much BIGGER!
Today, I did not just walk for me but I walked for all the women and girls that could only dream of this opportunity. I walk for my grandma who never studied passed 2nd grade.
I walk for the little girl and teenager who often felt scared, lost, and invisible. I walk for the young woman who spent years trapped in toxic environments that led her to feel worthless. I walk for the girl I was and the girl I am yet to become, because despite all that I have been through, I am still here, continuously growing, thriving, and now succeeding.
So cheers to me and all the girls like me! This is for us! 🤍🎓🦋
